About Me: I have been a Personal Trainer since 1999, when I went from heavy and sick, to fit and healthy! I have a real passion for coaching and helping people with their goals, no matter what they are. Since starting Best Body Fitness and creating the gym of my dreams, I have reduced my training load, but still have many clients online. I race and coach people for Triathlon, and as part of that, I coach Masters Swimming, teach Indoor Cycling Classes, and coach a Running clinic. I’m told my biggest asset is my ability to communicate and explain things so that my clients truly understand them. I have since written a book to help people, called If Your Body Were a Car, You Wouldn’t Treat it This Way. My passion is for functional training and sport specific training as well as education, speaking to groups of people from 5 to 500.

Recent and Future Goals:

2013: Woody’s Marathon May, 400km Ride 2 Survive Cancer (bike from Kelowna to Vancouver) in June, Sinister 7 Trail Race, legs 4 & 5 (55km run) in July, Challenge Penticton (Iron distance triathlon) in August, Ultraman World Championships in November

2014: Woody’s Marathon, 400km Ride 2 Survive, Spartan Sprint x2 and a Spartan Ultra Beast, Great Divide Mountain bike tour (Banff to Montana)…..

2015: Ironman Couer d’Alene Idaho, June 28th.  Ultraman World Championships November 27th, 2015 : crashed on the bike and nearly died on Day 2.  Broke my left arm, 4 ribs, collar bone and broke my skull open, resulting in brain damage.  Long story short: Recovery in full swing.

2016: Crash recovery.  First race: Woody’s Half Marathon May 22nd.  Rest of the season was all about rehab and getting range of motion back.  Had metal plates removed in July.

2017: Signed up for the 150km Canadian Anniversary Run in Calgary May 27 (but still recovering, knee rehab not there yet, so had to withdraw).  Still have my sights set on Ironman Coeur d’Alene Idaho – end of August.

About Me:

Sports and fitness have always been my calling. I spent 5 years studying kinesiology and athletic therapy in Calgary. I had the opportunity to work with UofC’s Dino Varsity Athletics for two years. During which time I spend 1200 hours both in the clinic and on the field learning to prevent, assess, implement interventions and return patients to sport. Career interests include rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries as well as high performance athletics.

I volunteered coaching club volleyball throughout university, where I was trained as a NCCP level one coach. I’ve coached U12 up to U16s and also got the chance to also be an assistant coach for 2 teams that competed nationally.

I moved to sylvan last summer to train full time with Alberta Flyboard. I returned last December from the World Cup in Dubai, professionally ranked 39th internationally on the flyboard.  I am also currently ranked 1st on the hoverboard in Canada. I fly for Canadian Team, Team CanFly and look forward to competing in May at the North American Championships in Mexico.

About Me:

Music and fitness make this kid smile.  A great song has an infectious beat, one you can’t stop moving and dancing to. So does a body that’s fit and strong.  As a fitness professional I get to assist my clients in finding their “song”, their “beat”.  Adventure and variety are the spice of my life, whether I’m snowboarding, playing beach volleyball or doing something cool with my son, I’m always smiling, and ALWAYS learning.  Becoming a Can-Fit-PRO personal trainer in 2013 just made it all better.  I lost over 65 pounds, and in losing 1/3 of my body weight, I found ME.  Fitness changes lives, and there is no greater joy than being a catalyst for positive change.

Originally from bonnie Scotland I relocated to Canada in 2014 with my husband & son! I fell in love with this country almost instantly! I only started to get fit when I turned 30( A LONG TIME AGO LOL)I am passionate about fitness & helping others! Helping & encouraging people to reach their goals is hugely satisfying & I absolutely love my job at Best Body! The positive energy around this gym is awesome! Becoming Crossfit certified in April 2016 then led me to personal training a few months later! I’m a people person & LOVE to talk….but you all know that right??

About Me:

Since the age of 12 I have always been into health and fitness, from making my own meal plans to cut weight for Jiu-jitsu matches or gain 15lbs of mass to compete in Olympic Weight Lifting. I became attached to this lifestyle of helping other’s reach their full potential in 2013. I have appreciable amount of experience in the personal training industry from clients who wanted to just lose weight and regain their self-esteem back as well as clients who had physical limitations but still possessed a goal in sight. Fitness is more to me then you losing those 15-100lbs it’s the courage it took you as a person to walk into the gym door’s facing your fears and trusting “us” trainers to change your life. I have always been pursuing higher education in this line of work so that my clients have no question’s that go unanswered.

Recent and Future Goals:  Progressing to obtain a Kinesiology Diploma, 3X competitor in Olympic Weight Lifting, Start competing again in Jiu-jitsu in 2017.

About Me:

Throughout high school and University I exercised on and off, mostly because I thought I needed to look a certain way. After I had my first child, I started attending a step aerobics class at the Talisman Centre in Calgary. It was there that my philosophy of fitness changed. My instructor was different than any I had ever encountered. She never talked about, “working off that brownie”, or exercising because of guilt. Instead, she inspired us through her words and actions about being healthy and strong so that we could live the “good life”, as she called it. I have come to know this “good life” as one where I have the strength and the stamina to play with my children, to run a few blocks when I’m late without tiring, to lift and carry heavy things when needed.
In 2007, I left Calgary and moved to Edmonton. With the encouragement of a manager at the William Lutsky YMCA, I became a certified fitness instructor. I dove in with both feet, teaching step aerobics, strength classes, strollercize, water aerobics, etc. In 2010 we moved to Sylvan Lake. It was a huge change for this city girl, but I agreed to it because the town had a gym. At the time I had no idea that Best Body Fitness would become like a second home to me. I have truly loved teaching here for over 6 years. The amazing team I get to work with, along with the outstanding members, make it a joy to come to work. I look forward to many more years to come.

About Me:

I discovered a love for fitness in my early adult years and have learned that success comes from making it a lifestyle. Experiencing first hand all the benefits fitness has to offer (physical, mental and emotional) has been life changing.  Working at Best Body Fitness has been very rewarding as I get to continually share my passion and watch people’s lives transform all around me. I love the team I get to be a part of and I adore the participants that come along beside us.   The energy and excitement is contagious!  My wish is to inspire people to love themselves along every stage of their journey and to enjoy the ride along the way.

About Me:

My fitness journey began at Best Body Fitness in 2010 as a participant in group fitness classes. With a little push and support from my friends and family, I made the choice to create a career as a fitness leader and I am so grateful I did. I am now a part of such great team of trainers, staff and members right here in Sylvan Lake.

I have truly found a passion in being of service for others. I continue to be inspired by the many amazing people I get to work with day to day. I used to be fearful of getting up and talking in front of others and now I am excited to share and teach. I find myself blown away that this is what I get to call work.

I look forward to sharing with others the positive impact fitness has had in my life. I hope in doing so to inspire a community who embraces physical activity, enjoys movement and lives a life full of possibility.

About me:

Wow! Where to start? I’ll start a couple years ago when I decided that I was worth it. I joined run club at Best Body Fitness, ran quite a bit of weight off and have been full speed ahead since. I absolutely love to help and inspire others and I’m so blessed that I have been given an opportunity that allows me to do just that! A special thank you to a special friend who believed in me and saw my potential. She planted a seed for me that I took and grew with. Now here I am over a year later and I’m so happy to still be learning and growing with all of my BBF family and members!

Recent and Future Goals:
In 2016 I competed in my first ever Ironman 70.3 and this was such a huge accomplishment for me as I spend over half the year learning how to swim !! I also was able to compete in a couple half marathons and on a couple Ironman relay teams doing the bike and run portion. In doing all of that, it allowed me the opportunity to be invited to compete for Team Canada! August of 2017 I will be competing at the World Mulit-sport Championships in Penticton, BC. A pretty cool accomplishment for a girl who had no idea what she was capable of!!

About Me:

I have always had a passion for sports and an active lifestyle. Growing up I played soccer, volleyball, badminton, rugby, and slowpitch.  After high school, I volunteered coaching a U14 ladies volleyball team at the Red Deer College.

I had never really tried the “gym thing” until 2014. I was living in Sylvan Lake at the time and decided to try Best Body Fitness. This is where I found my true passion! The instructors and participants in the group fitness classes made it easy for me to want to come to get that burn. They made me feel at home instantly, and their support and motivation made me love coming to class – everyone in the room was in it together!  It was from their motivation and support that I was encouraged to become an instructor myself. I could have never guessed how much impact my new ‘gym buddies’ would have on me.

I have been coaching classes since July 2015 and couldn’t be happier! To watch someone who “could never do a pushup” or “can’t do a burpee” push themselves to succeed is beyond inspiring.  My goal has, and always will be, to inspire just one person to come to the gym and try a class- you never know, you could be teaching next!
