About Me: I have been a Personal Trainer since 1999, when I went from heavy and sick, to fit and healthy! I have a real passion for coaching and helping people with their goals, no matter what they are. Since starting Best Body Fitness and creating the gym of my dreams, I have reduced my training load, but still have many clients online. I race and coach people for Triathlon, and as part of that, I coach Masters Swimming, teach Indoor Cycling Classes, and coach a Running clinic. I’m told my biggest asset is my ability to communicate and explain things so that my clients truly understand them. I have since written a book to help people, called If Your Body Were a Car, You Wouldn’t Treat it This Way. My passion is for functional training and sport specific training as well as education, speaking to groups of people from 5 to 500.

Recent and Future Goals:

2013: Woody’s Marathon May, 400km Ride 2 Survive Cancer (bike from Kelowna to Vancouver) in June, Sinister 7 Trail Race, legs 4 & 5 (55km run) in July, Challenge Penticton (Iron distance triathlon) in August, Ultraman World Championships in November

2014: Woody’s Marathon, 400km Ride 2 Survive, Spartan Sprint x2 and a Spartan Ultra Beast, Great Divide Mountain bike tour (Banff to Montana)…..

2015: Ironman Couer d’Alene Idaho, June 28th.  Ultraman World Championships November 27th, 2015 : crashed on the bike and nearly died on Day 2.  Broke my left arm, 4 ribs, collar bone and broke my skull open, resulting in brain damage.  Long story short: Recovery in full swing.

2016: Crash recovery.  First race: Woody’s Half Marathon May 22nd.  Rest of the season was all about rehab and getting range of motion back.  Had metal plates removed in July.

2017: Signed up for the 150km Canadian Anniversary Run in Calgary May 27 (but still recovering, knee rehab not there yet, so had to withdraw).  Completed my comeback race: Ironman Coeur d’Alene Idaho – end of August in a time of 13:49 – fast enough to pre-qualify to apply for Ultraman again in 2018.  :-)

2018: several mini goals – but Ultraman World Championships is #1.

About Me:

My passion for fitness started quite young. As a kid I was always in sports and as I got older that turned into a love for going to the gym. For many years I just enjoyed lifting as a hobby, but the more time I spent in the gym more and more people approached me about competing in bodybuilding. So one day I decided I would give it a shot, and there began a new love for bodybuilding and weight lifting! I have competed 3 times since 2015, twice in the figure category which I placed 8th and 6th, then I moved up to physique for my 3rd competition and got 2nd.

I love helping people of all fitness levels, it’s my passion and so of course, I love to share that!!

About Me:

Throughout high school and University I exercised on and off, mostly because I thought I needed to look a certain way. After I had my first child, I started attending a step aerobics class at the Talisman Centre in Calgary. It was there that my philosophy of fitness changed. My instructor was different than any I had ever encountered. She never talked about, “working off that brownie”, or exercising because of guilt. Instead, she inspired us through her words and actions about being healthy and strong so that we could live the “good life”, as she called it. I have come to know this “good life” as one where I have the strength and the stamina to play with my children, to run a few blocks when I’m late without tiring, to lift and carry heavy things when needed.
In 2007, I left Calgary and moved to Edmonton. With the encouragement of a manager at the William Lutsky YMCA, I became a certified fitness instructor. I dove in with both feet, teaching step aerobics, strength classes, strollercize, water aerobics, etc. In 2010 we moved to Sylvan Lake. It was a huge change for this city girl, but I agreed to it because the town had a gym. At the time I had no idea that Best Body Fitness would become like a second home to me. I have truly loved teaching here for over 6 years. The amazing team I get to work with, along with the outstanding members, make it a joy to come to work. I look forward to many more years to come.

About Me:

I discovered a love for fitness in my early adult years and have learned that success comes from making it a lifestyle. Experiencing first hand all the benefits fitness has to offer (physical, mental and emotional) has been life changing.  Working at Best Body Fitness has been very rewarding as I get to continually share my passion and watch people’s lives transform all around me. I love the team I get to be a part of and I adore the participants that come along beside us.   The energy and excitement is contagious!  My wish is to inspire people to love themselves along every stage of their journey and to enjoy the ride along the way.

About me:

Wow! Where to start? I’ll start a couple years ago when I decided that I was worth it. I joined run club at Best Body Fitness, ran quite a bit of weight off and have been full speed ahead since. I absolutely love to help and inspire others and I’m so blessed that I have been given an opportunity that allows me to do just that! A special thank you to a special friend who believed in me and saw my potential. She planted a seed for me that I took and grew with. Now here I am over a year later and I’m so happy to still be learning and growing with all of my BBF family and members!

Recent and Future Goals:
In 2016 I competed in my first ever Ironman 70.3 and this was such a huge accomplishment for me as I spend over half the year learning how to swim !! I also was able to compete in a couple half marathons and on a couple Ironman relay teams doing the bike and run portion. In doing all of that, it allowed me the opportunity to be invited to compete for Team Canada! August of 2017 I will be competing at the World Mulit-sport Championships in Penticton, BC. A pretty cool accomplishment for a girl who had no idea what she was capable of!!

About Me:

I have always had a passion for sports and an active lifestyle. Growing up I played soccer, volleyball, badminton, rugby, and slowpitch.  After high school, I volunteered coaching a U14 ladies volleyball team at the Red Deer College.

I had never really tried the “gym thing” until 2014. I was living in Sylvan Lake at the time and decided to try Best Body Fitness. This is where I found my true passion! The instructors and participants in the group fitness classes made it easy for me to want to come to get that burn. They made me feel at home instantly, and their support and motivation made me love coming to class – everyone in the room was in it together!  It was from their motivation and support that I was encouraged to become an instructor myself. I could have never guessed how much impact my new ‘gym buddies’ would have on me.

I have been coaching classes since July 2015 and couldn’t be happier! To watch someone who “could never do a pushup” or “can’t do a burpee” push themselves to succeed is beyond inspiring.  My goal has, and always will be, to inspire just one person to come to the gym and try a class- you never know, you could be teaching next!
